Does your store have a specific focus?

When we first opened, we primarily carried used toys. I was in touring bands most of my life and I collected thousands of toys from all over North America while on tour, so when I decided to open a store, I had the used inventory already at my disposal. Once the store opened, we quickly branched off into carrying new toys, figures, horror movie & heavy metal shirts and lots of other collectibles. We didn’t want to be pigeon-holed into just one thing!

We put the name Toys AND Collectibles in the name specifically so people would know we didn’t carry just toys.

Since opening, beyond the awesome toys we carry, we’ve expanded to shirts, oddities & curiosities (my wife does taxidermy), alternative jewelry, horror & heavy metal vinyl, plushies, crazy bags, anime toys and a lot more!

Who are your regular customers? Families? Adult collectors?

When we first opened it was mostly 30+ year old men that were avid collectors of vintage toys like Star Wars, G.I. Joe, MOTU, TMNT, etc.

We are located on the main strip in a college town, so just due to walking by traffic we started to get families, kids and everyone in between coming in. Now I can honestly say everyone is our demographic.

We also do a lot of events. We help bring bands to town (we have a major music venue across the street), we have special guests at the store, we sponsor movies at the theater down the street and have our hands in the local zombie walk. Another fun thing we do for the city is curate a Halloween Pop-Up Bar in October. All these different things help bring all sorts of demographics to the store.

How do Super7 releases fit in with your store’s other items?

I am a huge Super7 collector so once I opened the store, I started to reach out to toy companies I love, Super7 was one of the first. I am a music nerd and a metal head, so the music releases from Super7 are made for people especially like me. I like that Super7 puts out figures for things you don’t always see. Bands, shows and very non-traditional things. Having a music venue across the street is great because we get a lot of bands coming to the store. It’s awesome when bands like Napalm Death and Exodus come in and are seeing their action figures for the first time in person. Also, the horror and nostalgic releases fit in really well with the vibe of our store.

What inspired you to include toys in your store?

Toys were always the foundation for the store and everything else we stock kind of came later. I am an insane toy collector, so toys are something I am very passionate about!

What has been your favorite Super7 release so far? Are there any figures that stand out in your collection?

That’s a hard pick for me because I love so many of them. At the end of the day, the Ghost Papa ULTIMATES! figures are probably my favorites. I am a huge Ghost fan but beyond that, the figures have such cool packaging and accessories, you can’t not love them!

Runner up is all the Godzilla stuff Super7 has been kicking out. That’s a close second favorite for me! I would have to say I think the Godzilla ReAction figures, ULTIMATES! and Blind Boxes are probably our customers’ favorite Super7 products!

What would you like people to know about your shop?

We were featured on an Amazon Prime TV show called “A Toy Store Near You” Season 1, Episode 2 and even though that came out a few years ago, I think it really helped people see the family-owned punk rock indie spirit of the store. We know there are a lot of easier and sometimes cheaper ways to get your toys but we so appreciate everyone that goes out of their way to support local and small businesses!

We are always trying to come up with new and fun things to do for the community. One of the fun things we do is a Krampus event at the store every December to raise money for the humane society. That has grown into a big holiday event in the area.

What would you like to see Super7 create in the future? Do you have a dream toy or figure that has yet to be made?

I'd love to see some band figures for: Gwar, Slaughter to Prevail, Ice Nine Kills and NIN!
